Nebo-Rock Ranch and Textiles is located in Beautiful Round Valley in the north eastern part of Mendocino County, close to the small town of Covelo. The Ranch is home to, White and Natural colored Merino Sheep, Angora Rabbits and a variety of other farm animals (chickens, horses, a pig, dogs and cats). All the fiber animals produce multiple shades of natural colored handspinning fiber.
Nebo-Rock Ranch has produced many award winning, covered Handspinner fleeces, that are shown at the Black Sheep Gathering, Monterey Co. Fair, Mendocino Co Fair, OFFF, Humboldt Co Fair, Lambtown.
In both 2014 and 2015 Janet was the proud winner of the Black Sheep Cup and the best Natural Colored Fleece. This award involves the best 5 fleeces of the wool show and was won with 2 moorit, one grey and 2 white Merino fleeces.
Janet Heppler lives here in Covelo with her husband Bruce. Sons, Cooper and Ryan grew up on the Ranch . Both helped with building the Ranch, fencing and haying and were involved with 4-H and FFA. They have moved on to other locations and interests, but still come home to helpon the farm when they can.
Janet has been involed with fiber , fiber arts and fiber animals for over 33 years. Her fiber art interest, starts with the animals and goes to the finished product .Both an advide spinner and weaver, she shears her own animals,washes the fiber, spins it into yarn and then weaves the yarn into scaves ,shawls and rugs. Her business Nebo-Rock Textiles, provides Handspinner Merino Fleeces, Mohair fleeces, Handspun and Mill spun yarns, both in dyed and natural colors, roving , dyed Mohair locks and sheepskins.
